So you probably know that Barack Obama is giving his big speech tonight an the 45th anniversary of Martin Luther King’s delivery of the “I Have A Dream” speech.
I’ve seen excerpts from that speech. When I teach public speaking, I use it as an example to explain anaphoric repetition. But this morning I realized I may have never watched the entire thing, beginning to end, all at once. So I found it on You Tube.
You can watch King’s entire speech here.

Fascinating!!!! Are you saying that Obama uses this? The repetition to get his point across? I love the site. Thanx! So, is Obama just smooooth and dreamy, or is he really authentic and sincere.?? AAH, that's the rub....

which you'll notice even more now that you're thinking about it. Think about how MLK said "One hundred years later....One hundred years later...."and "I have a dream..." how powerful that was (still is) because of the rhythm and the repetition. Actually, in the convention speeches I've heard so far, I think many politicians use it less artfully...and too much....which lessens the effect.

I was so moved by Barack's speech last night - maybe it wasn't on par with Dr. King's, but it stirred my soul ! Also, don't ya think Al Gore kicked a**? ~Jessica Leigh
