Dreaming of fighting fire?
Savannah Fire & Emergency Services is hosting “A Day in the Life of a Female Firefighter,” an open house event geared opening the eyes girls and women to firefighting as a possible career.
Savannah has over 300 firefighters, yet only eight of these are female – though two are Master Firefighters and two more have risen to the rank of Captain. These phenomenal firewomen are ready to answer questions, discuss their experiences in the firehouse, share what they did to prepare for the CPAT (a nationally recognized test that all firefighters must pass) and how they handle the heat of their demanding and rewarding job.
The event will be held at the historic Fire Deparment Headquarters at Abercorn & Oglethorpe streets – attendees can check out equipment, try on boots an maybe, just maybe, they’ll let ya ring the bell.
When: Thursday, July 17th at 6pm
Where: 121 E. Oglethorpe, Savannah
Cost: FREE
