Like A Fine Wine

So, yeah, it’s my birthday.

I’m 37, one of those boring, prime number birthdays that doesn’t represent a milestone, just another well-heeled (more on my heels in a minute) step towards cronedom. I got’s no problem with that – another year, another swath of gray, a little more wisdom.

I posted it in the calendar anyway, not just because I am raving narcissist but because I just had to show y’all my latest bargain score: I found this hot-pink leopard print Betsey Johnson sweater dress for $45 in a tiny gift shop in Beaufort, SC while scouting for products for the November issue (good gawd, I lurve mah job.)

Sister editrix and Libran Margaret had the wonderful idea of publishing a birthday wishlist (hope you got it ALL, honey!) But honestly, I’ve already got most everything I’ve ever wanted:

Said Betsey Johnson dress, a new set of hubcaps for the Beige Absurdivan, dinner tonight at Olympia Greek Restaurant on River Street with my entire family, a 10th anniversary getaway to Puerto Rico this weekend with my guy and – because it really is all about the shoes – these amazing Naot boots that I hunted down for half price on eBay (you can read more about THAT adventure on my other blog):

I’m halfway between my mid-30’s and the big 4-OH, and damn if it don’t feel goood.

Happy birthday! I'd love to see the sweater dress, but couldn't get it to load. Dang. In any case, I'm green with envy re: Puerto Rico - have an amazing trip and bring us all something wonderful (even if it's just a photo of you smiling)! "Trust Life's unfolding..."
